Depict Evaluation

Depict Evaluation

What was the task?
The task was to film a 90 second short film that was creative and well produced film of any unique idea.

What was your idea?
The idea of the 90 second film we have created was a mime who is stuck in a glass box and is trying to get out checking every chance of escape to exit the glass box where the mime is locked inside.

What planning documentation / processes did you have to complete  how much input did you have? Did you "pull your weight"?
The documentation we had to complete was the planning stage of the Depict porject which was to spend a week or two to complete the filming stage which was filmed in the glass corridor within the college premisses meaning that we had to get a signature from the caretakers to allow us to film at the location and publish it legally. The editing stage floowed after the filming stage meaning that we had at least a week to complete the editing phase and complete our projects ready for submission. The planning stage was agreed by all the members of the group meaning we all contributed to all stages.

Did your finished work reflect the planning you had completed?
The completed work isn't as well produced as we all anticipated as we had many problems with all the stages of planning as when we would go to film on location, the location had heavy crates if supplies that couldn't be moved easily which was a problem for a week limiting us to a week to film only. The editing phase had a problem as our group had technical issues with the computer, another problem we faced was that we had edited the film to 60 seconds instead of 90 seconds as seen within the film that is seen in slowmotion to try and extend the length of the film.

What changes did you make from your planning and why?
Changes we had from our planning was that we had to rush the filming and editing phase due to issues that we faced meaning that we had to compromise meaning that the quality of the producution of the film was durastically decreased meaning that the film didnt end up as well as we planned due to the strict deadline we had to follow.

What do you think is the most successful aspect of the project?
The most successful aspect of the project is the planning phase of the film.

What would you change or do differently if you were to undertake the task again?
I would change the plan for the editing phase which will make the film a more visually appealing film that more would enjoy, the editing phase of the film was the poorest part of the project and let down the whole film. The editing stage would be carefully planned and the editing would make it up to 90 seconds and not 60 seconds stretched out using a lower viewing speed.

What did you enjoy most about the project?
The most enjoyable part of the project is that the ideas that came up during our planning phase from the members were great but is a shame that we didnt get the project up to the standards that we had.
