What is the purpose of advertising?


The purpose of advertising is to get media products out to people everywhere such as an advert for shampoo could be advertised on buses or posters scattered around places where people are frequently passing allowing for more people to see their advert about their product.

What is a target market?


A target market is a specific part of the market the product is trying to be seen under such as a shampoo bottle will be under lifestyle.

How does advertising work?

Advertising works by the company of the product uses 10-15% of their budget to design and create the advert so that it has a USP (Unique Selling Point) and the rest of the budget is used to spread the advert everywhere so that the audience will see its message.

What is reach?


Reach is the number of places the advert is being aired on meaning that if the advert has a long reach then it will reach not a wider audience but it will be aired around.

What is frequency?

Frequency is the amount of times the advert is aired within a day so a higher frequency means that the advert will be shown many times during the day or say if the advert has a low frequency then the advert is seen less during the day.

What sort of things does an ad agency spend its money on?


The ad agency spends money on airing the advert on different media such as adverts seen on television or videos online using computers, it can also be seen on social medias such as Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.

How important is the USP (Unique Selling Point)?

The USP is important because it shows your product in a unique way meaning that audiences will either recognise it or remember it meaning that the product is always being thought of, this can lead to the audience to buy these products due to the unique advert that has been aired.

Why might an ad campaign fail?


If an ad campaign fails, then it is because there are too many complaints about the advert and is not fit to be aired to audiences due to audiences that might be offended by adverts. If the advert does not fit the criteria of the regulations then it could be turned down meaning that the amount of money spent would be wasted
