Evaluation: Corporate Video Production

Evaluation: Corporate Video Production

1.       What was the task (overall), include details of the brief and the clients

The task was to create a Corporate Video for the East Norfolk Sixth Form College in order to promote the college to students who are considering applying for a college. This task was limited by the duration of the video as the boundary was set at 1:30 or latest 2:00, this was so that the students/guardians can see what the college can offer without making it too boring and long so that they lose interest.

Certain subjects were assigned to certain groups such as Will Grimmer and I were assigned to create a corporate video about the Enhance project that allows new students to take 1 other lesson that will take up one free slot in their timetable and will grant them a grade so that they can put it on their CV’s.

2.       What was your specific, allocated role?

I was assigned to a subject named “Enhance” alongside William Grimmer which allows students to take an Enhance course that will only take 1 free slot within their timetable for them to receive a grade that they can use in the future in their CV’s.

3.       What did you have to do (specifically?)

We were tasked to create a Corporate Video for the East Norfolk Sixth Form College about the Enhance subjects such as “Mandarin, Vocal Training, Sports for Fun, Duke of Edinburgh, Medical Extra, ETC”. We were given a strict time frame for the completion of the task giving us around 3-4 weeks for the first draft and another week for the final draft.

Our first draft was completed on schedule as we had organised our schedule for each day and week, we had to complete preproduction or film. Our first 2 weeks we had planned was to interview the subject leader for the Enhance course which was Dr. Simon Fox who we had asked the permission of filming the Enhance Corporate Video and what he had envisioned the corporate video to finalise as. This interview gave us an idea of the video so that we could start our filming and preparations for the video which means we were organised to start the project, firstly we started off with the preproduction which means that we had to complete location releases, talent releases, and pictures of the locations.

4.       What was your favourite aspect of the task? Include more than one thing, if appropriate.

The most enjoyable part of the task was filming the shots as I enjoy being creative in that we chose a variation of different shots to film so that we had a more interesting video.

5.       What was the most challenging aspect of the task? Include more than one thing, if appropriate

The most challenging part of the task was getting teachers permissions to film during their lessons as many teachers had not seen our email or had not responded to it allowing us to film, these subjects were Mandarin, Sports For Fun and Cadets.

6.       What do you feel you took from the project? E.g., what will you reflect on as being particularly useful/developmental?

This project has helped develop skills for filming and editing along with working alongside other people to create a final product that is done to its best

7.       What would you change if you were to undertake the task again?

I would change the amount of time spent on emailing teachers for the permission to come and film our short corporate video so that we could have more time filming and editing the first and final draft of the video.
